Objective:
The objective of Agon is to be the first player to maneuver all their pieces into the center of the board in a specific formation, all while blocking or capturing the opponent's pieces.
Components: 1. Board: A hexagonal grid with a central area. 2. Pieces: Each player has a set number of pieces, usually six. 3. Dice: Typically two six-sided dice are used.
Setup: - Each player selects a side of the board and places their pieces in the first or second row of the grid. - The order of play is determined by a dice roll, with the highest roller going first.
Gameplay:
The game is played in turns clockwise around the board.
1. Rolling the Dice: On a player's turn, they roll both dice.
2. Movement Options: Players can either move two different pieces according to each die's value or move one piece the total sum of both dice.
3. Movement Rules:
- Pieces can only move forward or sideways, not backward.
- The goal is to move towards the central hexagon.
4. Blocking & Capturing:
- Landing on an occupied square sends the opponent's piece back to its starting position.
- You can block an opponent's piece by positioning your piece in front of it.
5. Center Target: You cannot enter the central target area until all your pieces have left the starting zone.
Winning:
The first player to successfully move their pieces into the target formation in the center of the board wins.
Strategic Tips:
- Planning: Consider splitting your moves between pieces or focusing efforts on advancing one piece quickly.
- Blocking: Use pieces strategically to block opponents and hinder their progress.
- Attacking: Aim to land on squares occupied by enemy pieces to capture and reset them.
