Objective of the Game

Tapp is a fast-paced card game where the goal is to quickly get rid of your cards while avoiding accumulating too many points. The player with the fewest points at the end of the game wins.

Setup

  • The game uses a standard 52-card deck, and each player draws a card to start an open pile in the middle.
  • Number of players: 2 to 6.
  • Each player is dealt 5 cards to start with.

Game Flow

  1. Turn: On your turn, you can play a card from your hand onto the discard pile. The card must match either the value or the suit of the top card on the pile.
  2. Drawing: If you cannot play a card, you must draw a card from the draw pile. Then, your turn ends.
  3. Tapp: When you play a card and have only one card left in your hand, you must say "Tapp." If you forget and get called out before your turn ends, you must draw two penalty cards.
  4. End of Round: A round ends when a player disposes of all their cards.

Scoring

  • Number cards are worth their face value.
  • Face cards are worth 10 points.
  • Aces are worth 1 point.
  • The game ends when a player reaches 100 points, and the player with the fewest points wins.

Strategies

  • Timing: Try to play cards that don’t give away too many points but also don’t strengthen your opponents.
  • Card Holding: Consider keeping high cards back strategically so you don't get stuck with them when rounds end.
  • Distraction: Keep an eye on opponents close to having no cards left and play cards they’re unlikely to match, holding them back.

Enjoy playing Tapp!
