Objective of the Game
Hickhack is a fun dice game where the aim is to score as many points as possible through forming sets. You need to skillfully roll the dice and make tactical decisions to maximize your chances of winning the game.
Game Components
- 5 special dice
- 1 player sheet (scoreboard)
- Pencil or pen (to note down the scores)
Setup
- Each player receives a sheet from the player block to record their points.
- Make the special dice available.
- Select a starting player randomly or choose the youngest to begin.
Gameplay
The game proceeds in rounds, where each player takes a turn per round.
1. Rolling the Dice: - The active player rolls all five dice. - The dice show results through special symbols or numbers.
2. Forming Sets: - The player attempts to form sets of the rolled symbols. - A set comprises either three identical symbols or certain special combinations, detailed on the scoreboard.
3. Recording Points: - If satisfied with the sets formed, the player notes the respective points on their sheet. - They may choose to re-roll any number of dice to improve the outcome but must record the points from the final roll.
4. Ending the Turn: - The next player takes their turn, and the process is repeated.
The game ends after a predetermined number of rounds or when a condition on the scoreboard is met (such as a set score threshold or a certain number of sets formed).
Special Rules and Strategies
- Risk vs. Safety: Should you stick with your current result or take the chance of a higher roll?
- Special Combinations often yield more points than simple sets, so spotting opportunities for these combinations is crucial.
- Watch the Opponents: Since it’s a race for the most points, observing the strategies of others can be helpful.
Winner
The player with the highest score at the end of all rounds or upon meeting the winning condition is declared the winner of Hickhack.
