Instructions Colomino

Colorful Dominoes - Other Game

Family Game, Strategy

group 2 - 4 Deutsch

Objective

The objective of Colomino is to be the first player to play all their tiles or to have the fewest penalty points when the game ends. The player who achieves this wins the game.

Components

  • Colomino tiles (similar to Domino tiles but with different colors instead of numbers)
  • A board space to play on

Setup

  1. Each player draws a certain number of tiles based on the number of players.
  2. The remaining tiles form the draw pile.
  3. One starting tile is placed face-up on the table.

Gameplay

  1. Players take turns placing one tile on the board matching the color with at least one adjacent tile.
  2. If a player cannot place a tile, they either pass their turn or draw a new tile from the draw pile.
  3. The round ends when a player signals they cannot make a move.

Special Features and Strategy

  • Color matching: It's advantageous to place tiles that create multiple ways to continue the sequence.
  • Blocking: If possible, constrain opponents' plays by cutting off their options.
  • Managing tile reserves: Efficient use of frequently appearing colors helps in planning moves.

Round Winner and Scoring

  • After a round ends, remaining tiles in opponents' hands are counted.
  • These tiles accumulate as penalty points.

The game continues until one player reaches a predetermined point threshold (e.g., 100 points), and they lose, or a player wins after a set number of rounds based on agreed conditions.
