Party Game, Luck-based Game

group 2 - 6 Deutsch

Objective of the Game

Mäxchen is an exciting and often humorous dice game where the goal is to deceive other players about the actual dice roll to avoid being the round's loser.

Game Materials

  • 2 Dice
  • A Dice Cup (optional)
  • A Pad and Pen (for keeping score)

Number of Players

The game can be played with a minimum of 2 players, but it is more enjoyable with a larger group (up to about 6 players).

Basic Rules

  1. Start and Direction of Play: One player starts the game by placing the two dice in the cup, shaking it vigorously, and then rolling the dice onto the table, keeping them covered.

  2. Dice Result and Declaration: The player looks at the results, knowing only they can see the true roll, and then announces a dice result aloud, starting with the higher number. The declared result must be higher or at least equal to the previous player's declaration.

  3. Trust or Doubt: The next player decides if they believe the declared roll:

  4. Trust: If the player believes the result, they take the dice and roll themselves, having to declare an equally high or higher result.
  5. Doubt: If the player doesn't believe the previous player, they can challenge the declaration. The dice are then revealed.

  6. Consequences of Challenging:

  7. If the declared result does not match the actual roll, the liar loses the round and receives a penalty point.
  8. If the declaration is accurate, the challenger loses the round and receives a penalty point.

  9. End of the Round: The game can continue for as many rounds as desired or until a predetermined maximum number of penalty points is reached. The player with the fewest penalty points is the winner.

Special Dice Results

  • Mäxchen (21): The highest possible dice result is the combination 2 and 1, referred to as "Mäxchen," winning the round automatically if declared truthfully.

  • Doubles: Two matching numbers (e.g., 3-3) are considered higher than any non-doubles combination.

Strategic Tips

  • Deception: Be clever with your declarations. Craft believable lies.
  • Risk vs. Trust: Weigh carefully when to challenge. Frequent doubts might backfire if the declarations are indeed accurate.

With these rules, you can jump in and have a fun, engaging game of "Mäxchen." If any questions arise, it's best to address them as you play.
