Objective of the Game
StarQuest, also known as Space Crusade, is a board game where players take control of a unit of Space Marines conducting various missions. The game's objective varies depending on the mission but can include eliminating enemies, collecting certain items, or reaching a specific area on the board.
Game Components
- A game board that features different modular rooms and corridors.
- Various figures representing units and enemies including Space Marines, Aliens, and Robots.
- Dice to determine movement and battles.
- Mission cards setting the framework and objectives for each round.
Setup
- Select a Mission: Choose a mission from the mission book. Each mission has specific objectives and instructions for placing figures.
- Set up the Board: The modular board is assembled according to the mission instructions.
- Place Figures: Players position their Space Marine units at the starting locations on the game board. Enemy units are placed according to mission guidelines.
- Distribute Equipment: Each Space Marine Squad, controlled by its respective players, receives equipment and weapon markers based on mission requirements.
Gameplay
- Round Structure: The game proceeds in rounds, each broken down into phases:
- Command Phase: Players secretly plan the actions for their units for this round. Orders can include "Move," "Attack," or "Search."
- Action Phase: Players consecutively carry out the planned actions. The player order can be determined by lot or according to in-game order specifications.
- Combat: Battles are resolved with dice rolls. Each unit has specific combat values that modify the dice roll. Defeated enemies can yield resources or provide advantageous positions.
- End Phase: Mission objectives are checked. If a player meets the conditions, the game ends or moves to the next round.
Winning Conditions
The game concludes when a player or group of players accomplish the mission objectives. Some missions also have alternative victory conditions, where points are collected for eliminating enemies or completing additional tasks.
Tips for Strategy
- Coordination of your units is crucial: Don't forget to combine the special abilities of your units effectively.
- Objective Focused: Target central mission objectives to make efficient progress and aim to finish the game.
- Resource Management: Wisely choose when to use your strongest weapons or special abilities, as they are limited.
StarQuest is perfect for players who enjoy tactical board games that are story-driven and require strategic thinking.
