Objective
The goal of "Cheating Moth" is to be the first player to get rid of all their cards. Cheating is explicitly encouraged in this game!
Game Components
- 72 Cards:
- 20 Moth cards (1 point each)
- Various action cards, including:
- Ants (1 point)
- Spiders (2 points)
- Cockroaches (3 points)
- Mosquitos (4 points)
- Wasps (five penalty points)
- 1 Guard Bug card
Setup
- Shuffle the cards thoroughly and deal 8 cards to each player as their hand cards.
- Place one card face-up in the center to start the discard pile.
- The remaining cards form the draw pile.
- Choose one player to be the Guard Bug – this player monitors to prevent cheating.
Gameplay
- Start with the player to the left of the Guard Bug and play in a clockwise direction.
- Each player must either:
- Play a card from their hand matching the number or type of the top card of the discard pile.
- Perform an action card with special rules.
- Secretly get rid of a Moth card by cheating.
Action Cards
- Ant: The next player must draw an additional card.
- Spider: Choose a player to give you one of their cards.
- Cockroach: All players must quickly attempt to discard a card of the same type. The quickest player may discard it.
- Mosquito: All players must slap the mosquito card. The slowest player draws a card.
Cheating
- You may secretly discard a card, but only one per round.
- Cards can be discarded only into assumed forbidden areas (under the table, in a sleeve, etc.).
- If caught cheating by the Guard Bug, take back your card and draw an additional penalty card.
- The Guard Bug cannot cheat but can be rotated after each round.
Ending the Game
The game ends when a player has discarded all their hand cards. This player is the winner.
Tips
- Keep an eye on the Guard Bug – they stop you from cheating.
- Be discreet while cheating – it's the key to success.
- Watch other players closely – you can benefit from their mistakes.
