Objective of the Game
The objective of "Der wahre Walter" ("The Real Walter") is to collect the most points by strategically bluffing and correctly assessing other players' statements. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins.
Components
- Walter Cards: These cards contain different statements that serve as the basis for your claims.
- Score or Point Cards: Used to manage each player's score.
Setup
- Each player receives an equal number of Walter Cards.
- Decide which player will start first.
- Shuffle the remaining cards and place them facedown in the center of the table.
Gameplay
- The starting player draws a Walter Card from the deck and reads the statement aloud.
- All players, including the starting player, must decide whether they personally think the statement is "true" or "false" (in some versions, this might be "yes" or "no").
- Other players must also give an opinion. Strategic thinking is essential in not only evaluating the card correctly but also misleading other players about your own strategy.
Scoring
- Players who guess correctly earn points.
- The "real Walter," or player who presents the statement, can additionally earn points for successfully misleading other players.
Strategic Tips
- Bluffing is a key component of the game. Even if you know the truth, it might be beneficial to mislead others by providing false cues.
- Observe the behavior and reactions of other players. These often provide insights into whether they are telling the truth or bluffing.
End of the Game
The game ends either after a predetermined number of rounds or when all the Walter Cards are used up. The player with the most points wins.
