Instructions Domino Whist

Objective of the Game

Domino Whist is a card game for four players, played in teams. The goal of the game is for a team to win as many tricks as possible and fulfill the designated bids.

Setup

A standard deck of 52 cards is used. The four players form two teams, sitting opposite each other. Before starting, one player is determined as the dealer, who shuffles and deals the cards.

Game Play

1. Dealing the Cards: Each round begins with dealing the cards. Each player receives 13 cards.
2. Bidding: The player to the left of the dealer starts the bidding. Each player states a bid, which indicates how many tricks the team aims to win. There are consecutive bidding rounds where the bids can increase.
3. Trump Declaration: Once the bidding is completed, the player who made the highest bid determines the trump suit.
4. Playing the Rounds (Tricks): The player to the left of the dealer starts the game by playing a card. The following players must, if possible, follow suit. The player with the highest card in the lead suit or the highest trump wins the trick.
5. Continuation of the Game: The game continues until all cards are played, totaling 13 tricks per round.

Scoring

• Each team counts the tricks won at the end of each round.
• Successful Bids: Teams that meet or exceed their bid earn points accordingly.
• Failed Bids: Missing bids result in point deductions.

Victory

The first team to reach a predetermined score (usually 100 points or another agreed limit) wins the game.

Strategy

• Coordination with Partner: Since it is a team game, communication through gestures and understanding the partner's playing style is crucial.
• Watch the Opponents: Observe which cards are played to know which cards are still in play.
• Skillful Bidding: It is essential to make the right bid to prevent giving points to the opponents.

Unique Features

• Blinds: Players can bid "blind," meaning they bid before seeing their cards, which can yield double points.
• No Trump: A bid can also be made without declaring a trump suit, which also scores higher points.
