Objective of the Game

Neolithibum is a humorous game where players control a tribe of cavemen. The objective is to be the first player to achieve a certain number of accomplishments, referred to as "achievements" in the game. These achievements can be obtained through various actions during play.

Game Components

  • Game Board: Represents the landscape where players move, including hills, rivers, and forests.
  • Player Figures: Each player receives a set of figures representing their tribe members.
  • Resource Cards: Needed to complete building projects and serve as currency in the game.
  • Event Cards: Introduce unpredictable elements to the game, such as natural disasters or tribal matters.
  • Achievement Cards: Indicate the conditions that must be met to obtain them.

Gameplay

  1. Setup: Each player chooses a color and takes the corresponding figures. The resource and event cards are shuffled and placed in stacks. Each player initially draws a certain number of resource cards (usually 3 cards).

  2. Turn Structure: The game progresses in rounds. Each round consists of two phases:

  3. Action Phase: In this phase, players can move figures and perform actions like gathering resources, attacking other tribes, or starting a building project. Players can move to spaces and conduct actions there, such as collecting berries or hunting animals.
  4. Event Phase: At the end of each round, an event card is drawn, affecting all players.

  5. Resource Gathering: Players collect resources by occupying specific spaces on the board. These resources are necessary for building projects or trading with other players.

  6. Building Projects and Achievements: To achieve an accomplishment, a player must fulfill the conditions on an achievement card. This can include constructing a structure or winning a certain number of conflicts.

  7. Conflicts: If two player figures land on the same space, a conflict may occur. The winner of a conflict is determined by dice rolls or card strength, depending on the specific rules.

  8. End of the Game: The game ends when a player achieves the predetermined number of accomplishments. This player is declared the winner.

Strategic Tips

  • Resource Management: Effective collection and use of resources are crucial for building structures and achieving accomplishments.
  • Positioning: Skillful placement and movement of player figures can block access to key resources from other players.
  • Flexibility: The game can be influenced by unexpected events, so flexibility in planning is important.
