Schummelmax, also known as Cheating Moth, is a fun and interactive card game where cheating is part of the game.
Objective of the Game:
The objective of Schummelmax is to be the first player to get rid of all your cards.
Setup:
- Number of Players: 3-5 players
- Components: A deck of cards consisting of numbered cards (1-5) and some special cards like the "Cheating Moth."
- Shuffle the cards well and deal eight cards to each player. The rest forms a draw pile in the center.
- Designate one player as the "Guard". Other players will attempt to cheat.
Gameplay:
The game progresses in turns clockwise. 1. Play Cards: The current player must play a card that is one number higher or lower than the top card on the discard pile. For instance, if the top card is a three, the player can play a two or a four. 2. Cheating: During the game, players are allowed to sneak cards away by flicking them, dropping them, or hiding them in their clothes to get rid of them. This is the "cheating" aspect and is intentionally permitted. 3. The Guard: The Guard must keep an eye out for any cheating. If a player is caught cheating, they must retrieve the discarded card and draw an additional penalty card. However, if the Guard wrongly accuses someone, they must draw a penalty card. 4. Guard Rotation: Whenever a "Cheating Moth" card is played, the Guard role rotates to the next player clockwise. 5. Special Cards: - Cheating Moth Card: When placed on the discard pile, it signals all players to sneak away cards, followed by the Guard changing.
End of the Game:
The game ends when a player successfully discards their last card. This player wins the game.
Strategic Tips:
- Stay Alert: As the Guard, keep a watchful eye to catch any cheating by other players.
- Cheat Wisely: Don't be too conspicuous when cheating. Try to distract the Guard or wait until they are preoccupied.
- Keep Track of Cards: Be aware of how many cards each player has left to anticipate the game ending and strategize your own cheating attempts.
