Objective of the Game
Glupschgeister is an exciting children's game that relies on observation and speed. The aim of the game is to swim through the depths of the ocean and collect the most colorful fish to become the winner at the end of the game.
Game Components
- 4 starting tiles
- 62 ocean tiles (58 with fish and 4 with pearls)
- 5 numbered googly eyes
- 1 round disc as an underwater lens
Game Setup
- Shuffle the ocean tiles and place them face down in a circle.
- Place the starting tile for each player in front of them on the circle.
- Each player chooses a googly eye and receives the corresponding eye.
Gameplay
The game is played in several rounds, with players taking turns.
Round Sequence
- Fish Drawing:
- The player rotates a random ocean tile with the underwater lens.
-
All players look through their googly eye at the tile and try to remember the visible fish.
-
Naming the Fish:
-
After a short consideration, all players simultaneously name at least one or more fish they have seen.
-
Comparison:
- Each player checks if the named fish are indeed depicted on the tile.
-
Each correctly named fish scores one point.
-
Changing the Tile:
- The next player turns over another face-down tile.
- Repeat until all tiles have been revealed.
End of the Game
The game ends when all ocean tiles on the board have been turned over once. The player who correctly named the most fish wins the game.
Special Rules
- If two players simultaneously name the same highest number of fish and name them correctly, both receive the same score.
- When tiles with a pearl are drawn, there is a bonus round where all players can name one additional fish.
Tips and Strategies
- Quick Observation: Look closely and use the different shapes and colors of the fish to remember them better.
- Tactical Risk: Mention fewer and more certain fish to gain a point, rather than incorrect ones that yield no points.
- Concentration: Try not to be distracted by other players to be faster.
Glupschgeister is easy to learn, but offers exciting rounds for children and families through its speed and competitive spirit.
