group 2 Deutsch

Objective of the Game

In Bagh Chal, a traditional Nepali board game, two players compete against each other. One player takes on the role of the Tigers, while the other controls the Goats. The objective for the Tigers is to capture five Goats, whereas the Goats aim to immobilize the Tigers to prevent them from capturing more Goats.

Game Components

  • A game board with a 5x5 point grid
  • 4 Tiger pieces
  • 20 Goat pieces

Setup

  • The four Tigers are placed on designated spots at the corners of the board.
  • The Goats start off the board.

Gameplay

The player with the Tigers starts the game. The game proceeds in alternating phases:

Placing Goats

  1. The Goat player places a Goat on any empty intersection of the board.
  2. Once all 20 Goats are placed, they may only be moved along lines on the board.

Moving Tigers

  1. The Tiger player may move a Tiger along a line to an adjacent empty intersection.
  2. A Tiger can also jump over an adjacent Goat to a vacant point to capture the Goat (similar to "jumping" in Checkers). The captured Goat is removed from the board.

Note: Tigers cannot jump over other Tigers or over two adjacent Goats.

Strategy Elements

  1. Goat Strategy: Try to block the Tigers by strategically placing Goats around them. Avoid isolated Goats that can be easily captured.
  2. Tiger Strategy: Attempt to coax the Goats out of their blockade or capture them in a manner that retains mobility.

Ending the Game

  • The Goat player wins if it becomes impossible for the Tigers to capture more Goats.
  • The Tiger player wins once they have captured five Goats.

Bagh Chal is an engaging game of strategy and tactics, perfect for two players who enjoy a balance between offense (for the Tigers) and defense (for the Goats).
