Objective

The objective of Ghosts is to either move one of your "good" ghosts across the board and out through the opponent’s end or capture the opponent's "good" ghosts. Alternatively, you can win by capturing all of your opponent's "evil" ghosts.

Game Components

  • A 6x6 board.
  • 8 pieces per player (ghosts): 4 "good" and 4 "evil".

Setup

  1. Each player places their 8 ghosts on their starting row at their end of the board. Secret markings on the back of the ghosts denote if a ghost is "good" or "evil" – keep this hidden from your opponent.
  2. Position the ghosts secretly, so your opponent does not know which ghosts are "good" or "evil".

Gameplay

  • Players take turns moving one of their pieces one square in any of the four directions (forwards, backwards, sideways). No diagonal movements are allowed.
  • If a player moves onto a square occupied by an opponent’s ghost, they capture it and remove it from the board.

Winning

  • One way to win is by moving a "good" ghost off the opponent’s baseline.
  • Alternatively, you can win by capturing all 4 of the opponent’s "evil" ghosts.

Strategic Notes

  • Keep the identity of your ghosts concealed while attempting to uncover your opponent's.
  • Protect your "good" ghosts by not making them too exposed.
  • Anticipate your moves in advance to impede your opponent’s strategies and apply pressure.
  • Use "evil" ghosts strategically to disrupt your opponent’s plans and create confusion.
