Objective
Sherlock Express is a deduction game where players act as detectives trying to identify the culprit of a crime. The player who first identifies the correct number of culprits wins the game.
Components
- 6 Suspect Cards: These cards feature different characters with various characteristics.
- 6 Alibi Cards: These cards show characteristics that exclude a suspect from being the culprit.
- 6 Crime Scene Cards: Purely decorative, they have no mechanical impact on the game.
Setup
- Shuffle the suspect, alibi, and crime scene cards separately.
- Set the crime scene cards aside – they are not needed for the gameplay.
- Place the alibi cards as a stack in the middle of the table.
- Distribute the suspect cards evenly among the players.
Gameplay
- The starting player reveals the topmost alibi card from the stack and places it in the center of the table.
- Players look at the alibi card to determine which trait excludes a suspect from being the culprit.
- Players must not show their suspect cards to each other.
- When a player believes they have identified the culprit, they tap the table and present their suspect card.
- Guessed Correctly? If the suspect has characteristics NOT shown on the alibi card, the player wins the round.
- Guessed Incorrectly? If the guess was wrong, the player is out for the current round.
- The next player becomes the starting player, and a new round begins.
End of the Game
The game ends when one player has achieved a predetermined number of correct guesses (this can vary based on the number of players).
Strategic Tips
- Speed and Attention are crucial. Trust your instincts but be certain to avoid unnecessary mistakes.
- Develop a good memory for already excluded suspect traits to act quicker as the game progresses.
