Objective
The goal of Schummellieschen is to be the first player to get rid of all your cards, convincing other players your move is valid. Cheating is allowed, but you must not get caught.
Components
- A deck of cards containing various insect cards with values from 1 to 5
Setup
- Shuffle all cards and deal them evenly to all players.
- The player to the left of the dealer starts the game.
Gameplay
- Play Cards in Turn:
- Players take turns placing a card face down on the discard pile, claiming it matches the current number in sequence (starting with 1).
-
Cheating by placing a card that doesn't match the current number is allowed in every round.
-
Catching Cheaters:
- Any player can accuse another player of cheating by calling "Cheat!"
-
If a card is challenged, it is revealed.
- False Accusation: If the card matches the announced number, the accuser takes the discarded card, plus a penalty (usually another card).
- Correct Accusation: If the card does not match, the accused player takes back the card and an additional penalty card.
-
Number Sequence Change:
- After a round is completed (by finishing the stack of the current number), the number sequence for the players increases clockwise by one (from 1 to 2, etc.).
-
After reaching 5, the sequence resets back to 1 for the next round.
-
End of the Game:
- The game ends when a player has no cards left. This player is the winner.
Strategic Tips
- Bluffing: Mix your actual and fake claims to confuse your opponents.
- Observation: Watch for body language and changes that may indicate deception.
- Timing: Place your plays or accusations when it gives you the most advantage.
Enjoy the game! Stay vigilant and keep an eye on your opponents' cards.
