Objective of the Game
Mucken is a traditional card game mainly played in southern Germany. The objective of the game is to collect as many points as possible by winning tricks. Similar to many card games, it requires strategy and a touch of luck.
Setup
Number of Players: Mucken is typically played with 4 players divided into two teams.
Deck of Cards: It is played with a deck of 32 cards, usually a Schafkopf deck, containing cards from 7 to A (Ace) in the suits of Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs, and Spades.
Gameplay
Dealing Cards

The dealer deals 4 cards to each player in a clockwise direction.

A card is placed face-up on the table. The suit of this card determines the trump suit.

The dealer then deals another 4 cards to each player, giving them a total of 8 cards in their hands.
Playing Tricks

The game starts with the player to the dealer's left laying down any card.

The other players must follow suit if possible (following suit).

If a player does not have a card of the lead suit, they may either play a trump card or discard any other card.
Trump Cards

The trump suit beats all other suits, regardless of card rank.

Among trump cards, there is a hierarchy. Usually, Jacks are the highest trump cards, followed by other cards in the trump suit ranked traditionally by card value.
Scoring
- Each card has a point value:
- 7, 8, 9: 0 points
- 10: 10 points
- Jack: 2 points
- Queen: 3 points
- King: 4 points

Ace (Sau): 11 points

The team that wins the trick collects the points of the cards in the trick.
Ending the Game
The game ends after a set number of rounds or once a team reaches a predefined score, usually 1000 points.
