Objective of the Game

Welcome to the Dungeon is a push-your-luck game for 2 to 4 players where you play as a hero brave enough to enter a dungeon filled with unknown dangers. The objective is to successfully pass through the dungeon twice or be the last surviving player.

Components

• 13 Monster cards of varying strengths
• 4 heroes on double-sided boards, each with unique equipment items
• 24 Success cards
• Survival tokens
• Reference cards

Game Setup

1. Select a hero from the four available boards and place the hero's equipment items next to the hero.
2. Shuffle the monster cards and place them as a face-down deck.
3. Each player receives a reference card.

Gameplay

The game is played in rounds, and each round consists of two phases:

1. Preparation Phase

• The starting player (rotating clockwise each round) draws the top monster card from the deck. They then choose to either put the card in the dungeon or remove an equipment item from the hero.
• Put in the Dungeon: The player places the monster card face-down in the middle of the dungeon.

• Remove Equipment: The player places the monster card face-down in front of them and removes an equipment item from the chosen hero, making survival in the dungeon more challenging.

• Other players take turns making the same decision.

• Alternatively, a player may choose to pass this round, leaving the next player to make the decision.

2. Dungeon Phase

• Once only one player remains or all but one have passed, the remaining player enters the dungeon with the equipment still available.
• The player reveals the monster cards placed in the dungeon one after the other, using equipment to defeat or mitigate the damage.
• If the player defeats all monsters, they earn a success card. If they fail, they receive a survival token.

Winning the Game

• You win the game by either completing two successful dungeon ventures (possessing two success cards) or being the last remaining player to enter the dungeon (if all other players have failed twice).

Strategic Tips

• Careful use of equipment can significantly affect game outcomes. Consider when it's worth risking equipment.
• Bluffing Elements: Create uncertainty among opponents as to what monsters might be lurking in the dungeon.
• Push-Your-Luck Strategy: Decide when it's wise to withdraw and when it's worth the risk to attempt conquering the dungeon with the remaining equipment.
