Instructions Pit-Pat

Miniature Golf - Board Game

Family Game, Dexterity Game

group 2 - 5 Deutsch

Objective of the Game

The objective of Pit-Pat is to hit a ball with as few strokes as possible through a series of obstacles and into the hole. The player with the fewest points (strokes) at the end wins the game.

Game Components

A typical set includes a small course with obstacle lanes, similar to mini golf, clubs, and balls. Each lane has a specific design with obstacles to overcome.

Basic Rules

  1. Number of Players: Pit-Pat can be played by 2 to about 5 players; more players may participate but it would extend waiting times.

  2. Game Setup: Each player receives a club and a set of balls. The lanes are numbered and should be played in a fixed order.

  3. Game Sequence:

  4. Each player starts at lane 1.
  5. The ball is struck from the starting point of the lane using the club.
  6. The aim is to get the ball into the hole with as few strokes as possible.
  7. Players record their strokes on a score sheet.

  8. Strokes and Obstacles:

  9. There is a maximum stroke limit per lane; if exceeded, the maximum number is recorded.
  10. Obstacles may be touched but not skipped. The ball must be played through or around them.

  11. Special Rule: If the ball leaves the lane, it must be returned to the point of exit, and an additional stroke is counted.

Strategic Tips

  • Know the Lanes: Familiarizing yourself with the layouts and obstacles helps in planning strategic shots.
  • Precision over Power: A well-aimed gentle shot is often more successful than a strong shot.
  • Positioning: Try to place the ball in such a way that it allows a favorable position for the next shot.

Unique Features

Pit-Pat combines elements of classic mini-golf and billiard-like technique, as similar strategies are often applied. Sometimes, bonus points are granted for creative or particularly skillful play, depending on regional variations of the game.

End of the Game

The game ends once all players have completed each lane. Players then tally their total strokes. The player with the fewest total strokes wins the game.
