Objective of the Game
Klammern is a simple and entertaining card game where the goal is to discard all hand cards while avoiding penalties. Players take turns placing cards in an ascending or descending order on a common pile.
Components
- A standard deck of playing cards (usually a 52-card deck)
Setup
- Shuffle the deck thoroughly.
- Deal all cards evenly among the players.
- Each player holds their cards privately in hand.
- The youngest player starts the game.
Gameplay
- Turn: On each turn, a player may place one or more cards from their hand onto the table.
- Card Sequence: The placed cards must create an ascending or descending sequence. Only one sequence direction per turn is allowed.
- Changing Direction: Players can change the direction of the sequence only with a suitable card (e.g., by playing a card that naturally continues or changes the order).
- End of Turn: After playing cards, the next player clockwise takes their turn.
- Strategic Considerations: Players should aim to play their cards in such a way to make it difficult for the next player to easily discard cards from their hand.
End of the Game
The game ends when one player has no cards left in their hand, making them the winner.
Additional Notes
- If no player can legally play a card, the game pauses, and each player receives a point deduction for every card remaining in their hand.
- Bluffing: In some variants, bluffing or playing cards face down is allowed, but it also presents a risk if other players challenge the sequence.
This game is ideal for casual gatherings as it is easy to learn and suitable for all age groups.
