Objective of the Game

Scythe is a strategic board game set in an alternate history of the 1920s. The objective is to end the game with the most wealth, which is obtained through various means such as territory control, popularity, combat victories, and resources.

Components

• Game Board: A large map with multiple regions.
• Factions: Each faction has unique abilities and starting advantages.
• Mechs: Mechanical units that aid players in combat.
• Resources: Includes coins, food, wood, metal, and oil.
• Player Mats: Indicate the actions a player can take during their turn.
• Turn Track: To show the turn order and progress.

Gameplay

1. Setup: Each player chooses a faction and player color. Factions come with unique abilities and starting positions. Players place their initial resources and units on the board as indicated on their faction board.
2. Round Structure: The game proceeds in a series of rounds where each player takes one turn in sequence.
3. Turn Structure: During a turn, a player has multiple possible actions indicated on their Player Mat. These include:

5. Develop: Improve the efficiency of actions.
6. Recruit: Gain new abilities by recruiting characters.
7. Combat: Engages when a player's unit meets an opposing unit.
8. Produce: Gather resources from controlled areas.

10. Combat Mechanics: When units of opposing players meet in the same territory, combat occurs. Players use Combat Cards and Power (a form of resources) to increase their army's strength. The winner gains a combat bonus and possibly control of the area.
11. Ending the Game: The game terminates when a player places all their Stars – markers of major achievements like combat wins or resource development – on the player board. Then, final scoring occurs, evaluating wealth based on:

14. Buildings and Abilities: Some buildings or abilities grant extra points.
