Objective

The objective of Tamsk is to score as many points as possible by occupying spaces on the game board with your hourglasses, while preventing them from running out of sand.

Components

  • A hexagonal game board with multiple rings.
  • Six hourglasses (three per player) that serve as playing pieces.
  • Colored pegs for marking the board.

Setup

  • Place the game board in the center of the table.
  • Put the hourglasses on their starting positions on the outer ring according to each player’s side.
  • Each player receives a number of pegs of their own color.

Gameplay

Tamsk is a tactical board game for two players focused on time management. Players take turns until no further moves are possible or players agree to end the game.

  1. Turn Phase:
  2. On your turn, move one hourglass to an adjacent space.
  3. After moving the hourglass, flip it over to start the sand running.
  4. Mark the space the hourglass moved to with your colored peg.

  5. Strategic Aspects:

  6. Time Management: Ensure none of your hourglasses run out of sand. An hourglass that runs out cannot be moved.
  7. Area Control: The more spaces you mark, the more points you earn at the end of the game.
  8. Blocking Moves: You can block your opponent's moves by smart placement of your hourglasses.

End of Game

The game ends when: - A player cannot make more valid moves. - All spaces are filled or marked. - All hourglasses have stopped, or both players agree that no further beneficial moves exist.

Victory Conditions

The player with the most marked spaces at the game's end wins. Each peg representing your color on a space counts as one point.

Tamsk blends strategic thinking with the need to maintain control of time. Players must carefully plan their turns to block opponents while keeping their own hourglasses active.
