Objective of the "Reflexion" game
The objective of the Reflexion game is to skillfully position mirrors to guide a laser beam to a target field, following the rules of the game, in order to win.
Game Components
- Game board consisting of a fixed grid
- Laser source and target field
- Sets of mirrors (in various orientations)
- Obstacles that can block the laser
Game Setup
- Set up the board: Place the game board in a central location. Determine the position of the laser source and target field either randomly or by agreement.
- Distribute mirrors and obstacles: Each player receives an equal number of mirrors. Obstacles can be placed randomly or strategically on the game board.
- Determine the starting player: The youngest player starts, and play proceeds clockwise.
Gameplay
- Make a move: On their turn, a player places one of their mirrors on an empty field of the game board, choosing any orientation for the mirror.
- Activate the laser: After placing a mirror, the player activates the laser from the laser source and observes the path of the beam.
- Reflection Rules: The laser beam bounces off mirrors and changes direction according to the laws of optics. A hit on an obstacle immediately ends the turn.
- Reach the target: The game ends when a player successfully guides the laser beam to the target field with the mirrors.
- Players can decide if the winner is determined immediately or if more rounds will be played to establish an overall winner.
Strategic Tips
- Mirror Placement: Place mirrors strategically to create the most efficient path to the target.
- Blocking Tactics: Use obstacles to hinder opponents' paths without blocking your own.
- Forward Planning: Keep the eventual direction of the beam in mind and plan your moves long-term.
End of Game
The game ends as soon as a player successfully directs the laser beam to the target field. This player wins the current round or the entire game, depending on the agreed rules.
