Menara - Game Instructions
Objective
In Menara, players work cooperatively to build a tower as high as possible. Players must combine skill, teamwork, and planning to keep the stacked storeys stable and meet the winning conditions.
Components
- 79 Columns in different colors
- 2 level rings for basic construction
- 1 Building foundation comprising multiple plates of various colors
- 1 instruction booklet
Setup
- Place the building foundation in the center of the table to serve as the base of the tower.
- Shuffle the columns facedown.
- Prepare the construction plans: arrange all construction plan cards into a face-down deck.
Gameplay
- Determine the builder: Choose a start player who will be called the builder, proceeding clockwise.
- Reveal a construction plan card: The builder draws the top card of the construction plan deck and reads the instruction aloud.
- Execute the action: The instructions on the construction plan card determine how many columns the player must draw from the hidden column zone and/or build directly onto the existing tower.
- Adjust levels: Some cards require adjusting existing levels by moving columns or erecting new levels.
- Note the situation: Keep track of how many levels have been established. Depending on how challenging you want the game to be, you can start with 3, 4, or more levels.
Special Rules and Strategies
- Tower Collapse: If a column collapses or a level drastically tilts, players must rollback steps or discuss alternative arrangements together.
- Dexterity: A steady hand and smart placement are crucial. Consider carefully when it's wise to take the risk of placing multiple columns in one turn.
- Communication: Since it's a cooperative game, discussing and planning strategies together is essential.
- Pay Attention to Color: As some challenges require specific colors, column selection and utilization should be color-conscious.
End of the Game
The game is successfully completed when all levels have been placed without the tower collapsing. The game is lost if the tower collapses or there aren't enough successful construction plan actions completed as required by the cards.
