Objective of the Game
The main goal in Seventeen Wins is to be the first to reach exactly 17 points by cleverly choosing numbers. This strategy game requires foresight and a good sense of basic mathematics.
Number of Players
This game is ideally played with 2 players.
Game Materials
- A set of cards numbered 1 to 9, with each number appearing four times.
Game Setup
- Thoroughly shuffle the cards and place them as a facedown stack in the middle of the table.
- Each player draws three cards into their hand.
Rules of the Game
- The younger player starts the game.
- Players take turns playing an open card from their hand and adding its point value to the current total.
- However, players are not allowed to increase the score beyond 17. If a player cannot play a card that results in a total of no more than 17, they must pass.
- After playing a card, the player draws a new card from the stack to have three cards again, as long as there are cards remaining in the stack.
- The game ends when a player reaches exactly 17 points or when both players in succession cannot make a move because they would exceed the sum of 17.
Special Rules and Strategies
- Exact Calculation: Since a player must win by reaching exactly 17, precise calculation in every turn is essential.
- Bluffing and Deception: Try to strategically play your cards to make the opponent play a card that benefits you in future moves.
- Passing: Specific passing can change the dynamics of the game, giving the opponent fewer options. However, be careful not to miss too many opportunities.
Example Turn
Player A has a total sum of 15 and draws cards with values 2, 5, 3. Player A plays the 2 to reach exactly 17 and wins the game.
This simple yet profound strategy game offers plenty of strategic considerations for tactically savvy players.
