Monster Match - Game Guide

Objective

The objective of Monster Match is to collect the most monster donuts by identifying monsters according to the rolled features. The player with the most donuts wins the game.

Game Components

• 1 Monster Dice with different features (e.g. number of eyes, number of limbs)
• 1 Cookie Dice
• 60 Monster Cards, each with different features and a certain number of donuts
• 1 Fabric Bag for storing monster cards
• Score Sheet (optional for tracking points)

Setup

1. Shuffle the Cards: Shuffle the deck thoroughly and lay out 10 cards face-up in the center of the table.
2. Place Remaining Cards: Put the remaining stack in the fabric bag, face down.
3. Prepare Dice: Place the two dice within reach of all players.
4. Determine Order: Choose a starting player, who will begin the game.

Game Play

Monster Match is played in rounds, each round consists of the following phases:

1. Rolling

The starting player rolls both dice simultaneously: - The Monster Dice indicates the features of the monsters to be identified (e.g. number of eyes or limbs). - The Cookie Dice shows the number of donuts which the players can aim for in that round.

2. Finding Monsters

All players simultaneously search for monsters that match the rolled features. Once a player finds a matching monster, they place their hand on it.

• If multiple monsters match the rolled features, each player can claim only one monster per round.
• If a player touches a monster that does not match the features, they lose that round and cannot claim a monster.

3. Collecting and Scoring

• If a player correctly touches a monster, they take the card and add it to their donut stack.
• The number of donuts on the card corresponds to the points they earn.
• New monster cards are drawn from the bag to keep 10 displayed.

These phases repeat until all monster cards are claimed or players agree that no suitable monsters are present.

End of Game and Winning

Once no cards remain in the bag or no suitable monsters are present, the game ends. Players count the donuts on their collected cards. The player with the most donuts is the winner.

Strategic Tips

• Be Quick: Since players search simultaneously, speed is crucial.
• Feature Patterns: Keep track of which features are common on the displayed cards.
• Mind Donuts: Pay attention to the donut count since they determine the winner.

Special Rules

• In case of a tie in donuts, play a "Sudden Death" round where only tied players roll.
