Objective of the Game:
The goal of "Böse Drei" ("Evil Three") is to be the first player to get rid of all their cards. The game requires a combination of strategy, luck, and skillful utilization of its special rules.
Game Materials:
- A standard deck of playing cards (52 cards) without jokers.
Number of Players:
- At least 3, ideally 4 or more players.
Setup:
1. Shuffle the deck well.
2. Deal an equal number of cards to each player. If that's not possible, set aside any extra cards.
3. Players hold their cards concealed in hand.
Gameplay:
- The player to the left of the dealer starts the game by placing a card face down in the center of the table and declares the suit (hearts, spades, diamonds, clubs) and value (from three to ace).
- The next player must decide whether to accept the announced card or challenge the previous player.
- Accept: The player places another card face down and calls out the same value as the previous player declared.
- Challenge: If a player doubts that the played card is what the previous player claimed, they unveil it to check the truth.
- If correct: The challenger must pick up all the cards that have been played.
- If incorrect: The bluffing player must pick up all the cards that have been played.
- The game continues clockwise, with the active player potentially announcing a new card value or suit.
The Evil Three Mechanism:
- Cards with the number three are "evil" and can be played at any time face up. Regardless of the previously called number, a three can always be used as a response. Players may bluff and falsely declare another card as a three.
Ending the Game:
- The game ends when one player successfully discards all their cards.
Strategic Tips: - Bluff Timing: Carefully choose when to bluff. Frequent or obvious bluffs are likely to be caught. - Using Evil Three: The three provides flexibility, yet bears the risk of being caught bluffing. - Card Counting: Try to remember cards that have been played to better assess when others might be bluffing.
