Objective
Story Cubes is a creative storytelling game that aims to boost players' imagination and narrative skills. The focus is on the fun of inventing unique stories, rather than winning or losing.
Game Components
- Nine dice with a total of 54 different icons.
- Optional: A timer or smartphone for time constraints can be used, although it's not necessary.
Setup
Shuffle the nine dice and decide who will be the first storyteller. The order of storytelling can be determined freely.
Gameplay

Rolling the Dice: The storyteller whose turn it is rolls all nine dice at once. Players can choose to roll all or some of the dice together.

Crafting the Story: After the roll, the storyteller examines the icons on the dice. They are to tell a story that incorporates all nine symbols. The order of using the icons is flexible. Players are encouraged to interpret or associate the icons in any way they prefer.

Passing the Dice: Once the storyteller finishes their story, they pass the dice to the next player, who then creates their own story.
Variations
- Themed Stories: Decide on a theme before rolling the dice, such as "Adventure," "Horror," or "Science Fiction," and the stories must incorporate this theme.
- Collaborative Storytelling: Work together instead of separately. Each player adds a segment to the previous storyteller's narrative.
- Time Challenge: Set a timer for a set period (e.g., 2-3 minutes per story) to add an additional challenge.
