Objective

Mutants & Masterminds is a role-playing game inspired by superheroes in comics. It allows players to create their own superheroes and dive into a world full of adventures and dangers. The primary objective of the game is to collaboratively tell stories, overcome challenging situations, and protect the world from threats.

Game Materials

• Rulebook: Contains comprehensive rules, instructions for character creation, and world descriptions.
• Character Sheets: To record details of each superhero.
• Dice: Mainly a D20 (20-sided die) for most gameplay actions.
• Pen and Paper: For notes and index cards.

Game Setup

1. Select a Game Master (GM): One person takes on the role of the Game Master, who describes the game world, controls Non-Player Characters (NPCs), and enforces the rules.
2. Create Characters: Each player creates a superhero by recording different attributes, skills, and powers on a character sheet. The choice of these attributes determines how effective a hero is in various situations.
3. Determine the Game World: The group decides together, or the GM sets, in what kind of world or scenario the game will take place.

Gameplay

1. Introduction: The GM opens the scenario, describes the current situation, and provides hints of potential dangers or quests.
2. Player Actions: Each player describes what actions their character wants to take. Actions can include anything from conversations to combat scenarios.
3. Dice Rolls: Most actions require a dice roll. The player rolls a D20 and adds any relevant modifiers (e.g., skills, powers) to determine a total result. This is compared to a difficulty level to establish the success or failure of the action.
4. GM Decisions: The GM provides feedback based on the dice results and describes the consequences of players' actions.
5. Progression and Development: Player characters can gain experience points through successfully completing tasks, which they can use to acquire new skills or improve existing ones.

Special Rules and Strategies

• Powers and Abilities: Players should strategically use their heroes' powers to maximize their advantages in each situation.
• Cooperation: Teamwork is essential. A successful superhero operation often relies on characters working together and combining their individual strengths effectively.
