Objective of the Game
In Asalto, a strategic board game, one player takes on the role of the attackers trying to overwhelm the defenders or reach the corner of the defense bastion. The other player controls the defenders, aiming to block the attackers.
Game Materials
- A special Asalto board with a specific network of lines.
- 12 playing pieces for the attackers.
- 2 playing pieces for the defenders.
Setup
- Set up the board: The board consists of a triangular area representing the fortress with 2 defenders already in place.
- Position the attackers: The attackers start on a designated side of the board.
- Position the defenders: The defenders start within the fortress.
Gameplay
Asalto is played in turns, with the attackers moving first:
- Movement: All pieces move along the lines to the next directly connected space.
- Attackers: Move one space per turn along the lines.
- Defenders: Also move one space per turn.
- Capture/Occupy: Attackers try to find a free path into the fortress, while defenders attempt to block the attackers' movements.
- Blocking: An attacker is blocked if all in-game defenders surround it, preventing further movement.
- Winning the Game:
- Attackers win if one attacker manages to enter the fortress.
- Defenders win if they can block all attackers, leaving them with no possible moves.
Strategic Tips
- For attackers: Try to lure the defenders into moving, creating gaps to slip through.
- For defenders: Focus on controlling the lines and restricting the attackers' movement options.
- Coordination: For both sides, planning ahead and coordinating movements is key to effectively countering or blocking the opponent.
Asalto is a game not only of immediate movement but also requires players to plan ahead and understand the board strategically to succeed.
