Objective of the Game
In Blood Rage, you take on the role of a Viking clan seeking glory in the face of Ragnarök. Your objective is to be the clan with the most glory (points) at the end of the game.
Game Setup
- Game Board: Place the game board in the center of the table. It consists of various regions for conquest.
- Clan Boards: Each player receives a clan board that tracks their units, stats, and developments.
- Figures: Each clan receives their figures, including a mystical creature.
- Cards: Shuffle the deck of cards and deal them to players. These include upgrades, quests, and special action cards.
Basic Gameplay
The game is played over three ages, with each age comprising the following phases:
- Draft Phase

Each player is dealt eight cards. You review your cards, keep one, and pass the remainder. This continues until each player has six cards.

Action Phase
- You perform actions by spending Rage (resource). Example actions include:
- Deploy Units: Place figures on the board, costing a specific amount of Rage.
- Pillage: Attempt to pillage a region and gain rewards.
- Play Cards: Utilize special cards for advantages.

Each action has a set Rage cost, and once your Rage reaches zero, you can perform no further actions.

Resolution Phase

Battles occur if more than one player is in a region and one attempts to pillage:
- Both players lay down a strength card face down, revealing them simultaneously.
- The winner gains spoils, and the defeated units go to Valhalla (removed from the board).

End of Age
- Certain regions are destroyed by Ragnarök, awarding glory to units there.
- Retrieve units from Valhalla and prepare for the next age.
Winning the Game
At the end of the three ages, each player tallies their glory points. Points are gained through battle victories, completed quests, pillaging rewards, and Ragnarök awards. The player with the most points wins.
Strategic Considerations
- Card Selection: Choosing the right cards at the start of each age is crucial. Balance quests, upgrades, and strength cards.
- Battle Strategy: Use your strength cards strategically to win critical battles.
- Resource Management: Manage your Rage efficiently to perform as many actions as possible per age.
