Objective of the Game
Exploding Kittens is a card game that combines strategy, luck, and fun. The main objective of the game is to avoid drawing an exploding kitten card or if you do, to defuse it. The player who remains without exploding wins the game.
Setup
- Shuffle all the cards and deal four cards to each player.
- Give each player an additional Defuse card. There are six Defuse cards in total in the game.
- Randomly remove one Exploding Kitten card so that there is one less Exploding Kitten card than the number of players. Place the remaining Exploding Kitten cards back into the deck.
- Place the draw pile in the center of the table.
Number of Players
The game is suitable for 2 to 5 players. For larger groups, additional sets may be combined.
Gameplay
- The Player Starts:
-
Draw a card from the draw pile (unless you have already drawn an Exploding Kitten card that has been defused).
-
Decide to play cards:
- You can play as many cards from your hand as you wish during your turn.
- Most cards have immediate effects or allow you to perform special actions that can influence the game.
Important Card Types and Their Functions:
- “Nope” Card: Block the last card played by another player (except Defuse and Exploding Kitten).
- “Defuse” Card: Use this card if you draw an Exploding Kitten to prevent the explosion. Replace the Exploding Kitten card back into the deck at a spot of your choice.
- “Attack” Card: Forces the next player to take two turns in a row.
- “Skip” Card: End your turn without drawing a card.
- “See the Future” Card: Peek at the top three cards of the draw pile and plan your next moves.
- “Shuffle” Card: Shuffle the draw pile.
- “Favor” Card: Select a player and take a random card from their hand.
- Pair or Combination of Three Same-Type Cards: Swap these cards for a card of your choice from the opponent.
Strategic Tips
- Caution When Drawing: Consider when to use special action cards to avoid Exploding Kittens.
- Use Card Combinations Cleverly: Look for cards that are well-matched with your hand.
- Keep Track: Be aware of how many defuse cards are left in play and when to use your own wisely.
Special Conditions
- The game ends immediately if you draw an Exploding Kitten card and have no defuse card left, in which case you are removed from the game.
- As soon as the last remaining player survives the round, they win the game.
Enjoy playing!
