Khet - Board Game

Strategy, Abstract Game

group 2 Deutsch

Objective of the Game:

Deflexion, also known as Khet, is a strategic board game for two players. The objective is to "hit" the opponent's Pharaoh by firing laser beams and redirecting them using mirrors. It requires strategic thinking and planning moves ahead, similar to chess.

Components:

  • A square game board consisting of 8x10 squares.
  • Identical sets for each player comprising:
  • 1 Pharaoh
  • 2 Djeds (mirrors that deflect laser at 90° angles)
  • 4 Obelisks (block laser and can be eliminated)
  • 2 Pylons (special mirrors that function like two-in-one mirrors)
  • 1 Sphinx (fires the laser)

Setup:

Each player places their pieces on their side of the board. The Pharaoh is typically placed in the center of the back row, Djeds in strategic positions for protection, and Obelisks for defense or to block opponent lasers.

Gameplay:

  • Players alternate turns.
  • A turn consists of one of the following actions:
  • Move a piece one square (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally).
  • Rotate a piece 90°.
  • Swap a Pylon with an Obelisk.
  • After completing their action, the player fires a laser beam from their Sphinx.
  • The laser travels in a straight line and can be deflected by mirrors.
  • If the laser hits an Obelisk or the opponent's Pharaoh, it removes the object from the board.
  • The game ends when a Pharaoh is hit.

Strategy Tips:

  • Pay attention to your mirror positions to protect your pieces and create offensive opportunities.
  • Create chain reactions through subtle movements for unexpected laser paths.
  • Defend your Pharaoh by strategically placing Obelisks and mirrors.

Deflexion is a game that rewards both tactical skill and foresight. Players must keep an eye on both their defense and offensive setups to succeed.
