Time of Crisis
Objective:
In "Time of Crisis," players aim to rise as leading figures of the Roman Empire during the "Crisis of the Third Century." The objective is to secure the most Influence Points by the end of the game and be confirmed as a lifelong ruler.
Game Setup
- Board: The game board displays the Roman Empire with various provinces belonging to four administrative regions.
- Cards: Each player has a personal deck of Politics, Military, and Populace cards.
- Markers and Figures: Represent legions, influence, and other action markers of the players.
- Influence Points (IP) Markers: For each player, to keep track of scores.
Number of Players
- Minimum: 2 players
- Maximum: 4 players
Basic Game Mechanics
- Round Structure: The game is played over rounds, each consisting of several phases.
- Phases per Round:
- Event Phase: New events that can influence the game are revealed.
- Action Phase: Players use cards to perform actions. Possible actions include:
- Legion Movements: Advancing or defending provinces.
- Senate Action: Increasing political influence.
- Rebellion Suppression: Quelling disturbances.
- Purchase Phase: New cards can be bought to strengthen personal decks.
- Update Phase: Used cards are returned, and the next round begins.
Winning Conditions
- End of the Game: The game ends when a player reaches 60 Influence Points or after a predetermined number of rounds.
- The player with the most influence points at the end wins.

- Deck-Building Element: Cards must be efficiently acquired and used to gain advantages in different areas like military or politics.
- Province Control: Holding provinces provides strategic advantages and more influence points.
