Objective of the Game

Make ’n’ Break is a fast-paced building and dexterity game in which players aim to construct as many structures as possible within a limited time. The game blends elements of strategy and dexterity with a race against the clock.

Game Setup

1. Playing Area: Spread out the building blocks and construction cards.
2. Game Materials: There are various building blocks (usually 10) in different colors and shapes, construction cards with varying difficulty plans, and a sand timer.
3. Setup: The youngest player starts. Each player takes turns drawing a construction card from the stack.
4. Timer: Prepare the sand timer to measure time during rounds.

Rules

1. Start the Round: The current player draws a construction card and flips the sand timer.
2. Building: The player must build the depicted structure using the blocks as quickly as possible.
3. Validation: The structure is considered complete only if it is stable and matches the plan exactly.
4. Time: Once the sand timer runs out, the player’s building time ends.
5. Scoring: For each correct structure erected, the player earns points, usually indicated on the construction card; more difficult designs generally yield more points.
6. Next Player: Then it's the next player’s turn.
7. Rounds: The game is played over a pre-determined number of rounds, typically five or ten, ensuring each player has equal turns.

Special Features / Tips

1. Dexterity: Requires steady hands, especially for more complex plans.
2. Speed: Find a balance between speed and precision, as hasty construction can lead to collapses.
3. Analysis: At the start of the round, it may be helpful to take a few seconds to analyze the plan and select the required parts.
4. Team Play: In some variations, one can play in teams, where one player gives instructions and the other builds.
5. Strategy Choice: Focus on either simpler, small constructions or take the risk with more challenging, yet point-rich builds.
