Objective of the Game
The main objective of Spyfall is for players to either guess the location or uncover the spy. The spy, on the other hand, tries to discover which location is involved before being detected.
Game Components
- A card set with various location cards, where one card from each set is a special spy card.
- A timer or clock to limit the round time (usually 8 minutes).
Setup
- Select a game master to shuffle and distribute the cards.
- The game master randomly chooses a location from a list of possible locations.
- Prepare decks including one spy card. These cards are shuffled.
- The game master deals one card to each player.
Gameplay
- The round starts and the timer is set.
- Players look at their cards to see if they represent the location or the spy.
- During this round, each player takes a turn to ask another player a question to gather hints about the location. Questions can be like: "What's the weather like there?" or "What attire would be suitable?"
- All players (except the spy) know the location and answer questions without revealing the location directly, appearing unnatural, or alerting the spy.
- The spy listens attentively to gather hints but doesn't know the location immediately.
- Any player can suspect another player of being the spy during the round. This triggers a vote to reveal the suspected spy. If the majority agrees, the suspected player is revealed. If not, the game continues.
Strategies & Tips
- Smart Questioning: Questions should be vague but insightful. Obvious questions or answers can lead the spy onto the right track.
- Attentive Listening: As a regular player, it's crucial to pay close attention and catch subtle hints from other players.
- Spy Camouflage: The spy should provide general but plausible answers to avoid suspicion.
End of the Round
- The spy wins if they can correctly identify the location.
- The other players win if the spy is correctly identified, or time runs out without the spy guessing the location.
This exciting and communicative game promotes teamwork, attentiveness, and the ability to give and catch subtle hints.
