Objective of the Game
Haste Worte? is a creative word game where players aim to list as many relevant words as possible for a given theme within a limited time to score the highest points. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins.
Game Materials
- Word boards for each player
- A pen for each player
- Timer (often a sand timer)
- Theme decks (or cards)
- Point tokens or a score tracker
Setup
- Each player receives a word board and a pen.
- Shuffle the theme decks and place them nearby.
- Choose one player to be the timekeeper.
How to Play

Draw a Theme: The timekeeper draws a card from the theme deck and reads the first theme out loud. Example themes could be “Animals that can fly” or “Things found in the kitchen.”

Listing Words: Once the theme is announced, the timekeeper flips the sand timer over, and all players start writing down words related to the theme on their boards simultaneously until the timer runs out.

Scoring Words: After time has expired, players take turns reading their words aloud.
- Each unique word (not written by any other player) is worth 2 points.
- Words that are written by multiple players do not score any points.

Words that are repeated but can stand with a creative explanation may earn points based on the consensus of the players (often 1 point).

Tally and Record Points: Each player tallies their points for the round and records them on a separate sheet.

Next Round: The next round begins with drawing a new theme card as described.

Game End: The game ends after a predetermined number of rounds or time limit. The player with the most points is the winner.
Strategic Tips
- Try to come up with less obvious words to secure points through uniqueness.
- Think outside the box or consider metaphors and synonyms to increase your point potential.
- Avoid overly common terms that are likely to be written by other players.
Special Rules
- In some variations, words that lead to discussion can be judged by a referee, especially if the validity or uniqueness of a word is challenged.
- Optionally, meta cards or joker cards can be included to add or change the theme.
