Objective of the Game
Carabande (also known as PitchCar) is a dexterity game where players flick their "cars" (wooden discs) around a race track with the goal of being the first to cross the finish line. Players must navigate obstacles and avoid going off the track.
Game Components
- Track Pieces: The track is built from various pieces, allowing for numerous layouts.
- Obstacles: Barrels or other objects placed on the track to increase difficulty.
- Player Discs: Each player has a disc representing their racing car.
Setup
- Track Construction: Players agree on a track layout and assemble it using available pieces, like curves, straights, and intersections.
- Start Positions: Players place their discs at the starting line in a randomly determined order.
- Obstacle Placement: Additional obstacles can be added to increase the challenge.
Gameplay
- Starting: The first player flicks their disc from behind the starting line.
- Turn Order: Players take turns clockwise.
- Flicking: On a player's turn, they flick their disc once.
- Avoiding Obstacles: Discs may touch but must not displace the obstacles. Discs that fly off the track or move obstacles must be returned to their previous position.
- Rounds: The race continues until a predetermined number of laps (typically one or two) are completed.
Winning the Game
The game ends when a player completes the predetermined number of laps and crosses the finish line first. This player is the winner.
Strategic Tips
- Target Straights: Aim for longer flicks on straight sections of the track.
- Master Corners: In tight curves, reduce the flick angle and force to avoid going off-track.
- Plan for Obstacles: Navigate around obstacles skillfully to use them to your advantage.
- Control Your Speed: A controlled, precise flick might be more effective than a wild, forceful one.
Carabande offers an exciting balance of skill and strategy, providing fun for both children and adults!
