Objective of the Game
Voller Hund is a card game where the objective for players is to get rid of all their cards. The first player to have no cards left wins the game.
Game Materials
- A standard deck of 52 playing cards
Setup
- Shuffle the deck thoroughly.
- Distribute all the cards evenly among the players. It may happen that some players have one card more or less, but this is not an issue.
Game Rules
-
Starting the Game: The player to the left of the dealer starts the game by placing one card face down on the table and announcing its suit (e.g., "Spades").
-
Objective: The goal is to "trick" the next player by announcing a suit that is hard to match - unless you're bluffing!
-
Game Play:
-
The next player has two options:
- They believe the announced suit and play a card of the same suit, announcing their new suit as well.
- They don't believe the announced suit and challenge the previous player by saying "Voller Hund!" (meaning "Full Dog!").
-
Bluff Revealed: If challenged, the played card is revealed.
- Correct Guess: If the suit is incorrect, the challenged player must take all the cards played so far into their hand.
- Incorrect Guess: If the suit is correct, the challenging player must take all the cards into their hand.
-
Continuation: The play then continues clockwise, with each player playing cards of the announced suit or bluffing.
-
Ending the Game: The first player to have no cards left in their hand wins the game.
Strategic Considerations
- Bluffing: Use the opportunity to bluff wisely to change the game and force opponents to pick up cards.
- Challenges: Be strategic when choosing to challenge a player. A good intuition helps in detecting bluffs early and punishing opponents.
The game thrives on tactics, bluffing, and observation, enhancing interaction among players. It's a fun way to strategically and entertainingly engage with friends or family.
