Objective of the Game

The objective of Sequences Chess is to gradually restrict your opponent's freedom of movement and eventually deliver checkmate to the opponent's king by performing legal chess moves on the board. Like traditional chess, the game alternates turns and requires strategic planning and foresight.

Game Components

  • A standard chessboard (8x8 squares)
  • A set of chess pieces for each player in different colors (white and black)

Setup

  • Place the board so each party has a white square on their right-hand corner.
  • Each player places their chess pieces in the traditional opening positions on the board.

Basic Rules

  1. Mandatory Moves: Players take turns making a move, starting with the white pieces.
  2. Move Legitimacy: All moves must follow the movement logic of chess pieces (e.g., knights jump, rooks move straight, bishops diagonally, etc.).
  3. Check: If a king is directly attacked, the player must respond to the threat.
  4. Checkmate: The game ends in victory for the player who positions the opponent in a checkmate where the opponent's king can be captured on the next turn with no way to prevent it.

Important Terms and Strategies

  • Opening: The initial moves where players develop pieces and attempt to control the center of the board.
  • Middlegame: The phase of the game where tactics become prominent, and material gains or direct threats ensue.
  • Endgame: The last segment where few pieces remain, and prioritizing king safety and pawn promotion becomes crucial.
  • Tactics & Strategy: Balancing short-term tactics and long-term strategies is key to gaining an advantage.

End of the Game

The game concludes when a player delivers checkmate to the opponent's king or when a stalemate is reached, where a player has no legal moves and the king is not in check, resulting in a draw.
