Objective of the Game
Set is a card game where the aim is to find sets of three cards. A set consists of three cards where each attribute is either all the same on each card or all different. Attributes include color, shape, shading, and number.
Game Materials
- 81 cards, each defined by a unique combination of four attributes:
- Color: Red, Green, or Purple
- Shape: Oval, Squiggle, or Diamond
- Shading: Solid, Striped, or Open
- Number: One, two, or three symbols
Game Setup
- Shuffle the deck well.
- Lay twelve cards face-up in a grid on the table.
Game Play
- There are no turns or player order. All players play simultaneously.
- Players look for sets of three cards. A set consists of three cards where:
- All cards have the same or different color.
- All cards have the same or different shape.
- All cards have the same or different shading.
- All cards have the same or different number.
- A player who finds a set shouts “Set!” and places their hand on the three cards.
- The player explains why the cards form a set.
- Checking accuracy: If correct, the player takes the cards and three additional cards are laid out. If incorrect, a penalty point and the cards remain.
Special Rules
