Objective
The objective of Burg Flatterstein is to be the first player to hit a certain number of targets with bats and win the game. The exact number of targets may vary based on agreement or number of players.
Game Components
- A castle-shaped game board with multiple targets
- Several bat playing pieces
- A catapult-launching mechanism
- Score trackers for each player
Setup
- Setting up the Game Board: Place the castle in the center of the table. Each player chooses a color and takes the respective score tracker.
- Arrange the Targets: Arrange the various targets (usually in the form of windows or openings) on the castle. Decide at the beginning how many hits a player needs to win.
- Distribute the Bats: Each player receives a certain number of bat pieces in their color.
Gameplay
- Determine Player Order: You can roll a die or agree otherwise to determine the order of play.
- Take a Shot: The active player takes one of their bats and places it on the catapult. By pressing or pulling, the bat is catapulted into the air.
- Hit the Target: The goal is to hit one of the targets on the castle with the bat. Depending on the proximity or accuracy of the hit, the player receives points.
- Direct Hit: If the bat lands in the target, the player earns the most points.
- Close Range: If the bat hits nearby or just on the edge, the player earns fewer points.
- Record Points: After each shot, record the points scored on the score tracker.
- End of Round: Each player takes their turn once per round. The game continues until one player reaches the agreed number of points or hits.
Ending the Game
The game ends immediately when a player reaches the predetermined number of hits. That player is the winner.
Strategic Tips
- Practice the Catapult: Players should try to get a feel for the strength and direction of the catapult mechanism.
- Target Strategy: Some targets might be easier to hit than others. It might be a good strategy to hit the simpler or higher-point targets first.
- Score Keeping: Always keep track of which targets you have already hit and how many points you still need to win.
