Objective of the Game
The goal of Solo 66 is to be the first player to get rid of all your cards.
Number of Players
A minimum of 2 players and a maximum of 10 players can participate.
Cards and Setup
- Cards: Solo 66 is played with a special deck of 112 cards. This consists of four colors (Red, Yellow, Green, Blue) with numbers ranging from 0 to 9, as well as special cards like "+2", "Reverse", "Skip", "Wild" and "Wild +4".
- Setup: Shuffle the cards thoroughly and deal 8 cards to each player. The remaining cards form the draw pile placed in the center of the table. The top card of the draw pile is turned over to start the discard pile.
Game Play
- The player to the left of the dealer starts the game.
- Turn Play: A player must play a card that matches either the color or number of the card from the discard pile. Special cards are played under certain conditions: for example, "+2" forces the next player to draw two cards, unless they play another "+2"; "Reverse" changes the direction of play; "Skip" means the next player loses their turn.
- If a player cannot play a suitable card, they must draw a card from the draw pile.
- Wild Cards allow a player to change the game color.
- Wild +4 not only allows the player to choose a color, but forces the next player to draw four cards.
Special Rules
- Announcing "Solo": When a player has only one card left, they must shout "Solo". If they forget and another player notices, the forgetful player must draw two penalty cards.
- A player wins the round as soon as they have discarded all their cards. Other players count the points for the cards left in their hands, which are calculated as penalty points. Card Scores: Number cards score their face value, "+2", "Reverse", and "Skip" score 20 points, "Wild" and "Wild +4" score 50 points.
Strategy
- Try using your special cards early on to gain strategic advantages.
- Save your Wild cards for critical situations to change the color.
- Keep an eye on the number of cards your opponents hold, especially if they might call "Solo", and attempt to thwart their victory by playing "+2" or "Skip" cards.
Have fun playing!
