Tangram - Board Game

Abstract Game, Family Game

group 1 Deutsch

Objective of the Game

The aim of the Tangram game is to form a specific shape using a set of geometric pieces without overlaps. It stimulates creativity and spatial reasoning.

Game Components

A Tangram set includes seven geometric pieces, known as "Tans":

  1. Two large triangles,
  2. One medium triangle,
  3. Two small triangles,
  4. One square,
  5. One parallelogram.

Tangram patterns or templates can be used as a guide.

Game Play

  1. Setup: Place all Tans on the table in front of you. You can arrange and rotate the Tans in any manner.

  2. Choose a Pattern: Use either a suggested pattern from a book or app, or unleash your creativity by creating your own pattern.

  3. Create the Pattern: Arrange all seven Tans without any overlaps or gaps to form the desired picture. You may rotate or flip the pieces but must use them all.

Strategic Tips

  • Plan Ahead: At the beginning, consider which Tans are suited for certain parts of the shape to avoid blockages later.
  • Take Your Time: Work calmly and patiently to find the best positioning of the Tans.
  • Use the Angles: Utilize the right angles of the large triangles for sharper corners and the narrow edges of the parallelogram for narrower areas.

Variations and Difficulty Levels

Tangram offers different levels of difficulty. Simple patterns can be formed quickly, while complex templates require patience and skill. For advanced players, the challenge can be increased by encouraging them to create their own complex designs.
