Objective of the Game
The objective of Spider is to build and arrange 8 sequences of cards in descending order from King to Ace within the same suit on the tableau. Once a full sequence is completed, it is removed from the tableau.
Game Setup
Spider is a solitaire game played with two decks of standard playing cards, making a total of 104 cards. Beginners often start with one suit, but as they advance, they might use two or even four suits for a greater challenge.
Layout of the Game
- Shuffle the cards.
- Deal them into 10 piles across the table.
- The first four piles contain six cards each, and the remaining six piles contain five cards each.
- Turn the top card of each pile face up.
- The remaining cards form the stockpile.
Game Rules
- The goal is to build descending sequences in the tableau from King to Ace in the same suit.
- You can move a single card or a fully or partially completed sequence to another pile if the top card of the pile is one point higher in rank than the card or stack being moved.
- If you cannot make any more moves or choose to add more cards, draw one card from the stockpile and deal it face up to each of the 10 piles, but only if all piles already have at least one card.
Strategic Hints
- Uncover Hidden Cards: Try to reveal face-down cards by moving cards to other piles efficiently.
- Create Empty Spaces: Use empty tableau spots for strategic advantage to easily move necessary cards.
- Prioritize Suit Sequences: Focus on building complete suit sequences as they can be removed from play, advancing your game.
End of the Game
The game ends when all cards have been arranged into complete suit sequences and removed from the tableau, or if no further moves are possible.
Spider can be played at different difficulty levels depending on the number of suits used.
