Number of Players
Letra-Mix can be played by 2 to 8 players.
Game Materials
- Letter dice (usually 10 or more)
- Sand timer (e.g., set to 2 minutes)
- Writing materials for each player
Rules of the Game
- Setup:
- Each player needs a sheet of paper and a pen.
-
The letter dice are placed in the center of the table.
-
Starting the Game:
- One player rolls all the letter dice.
- The rolled letters are left visible for all players to see.
-
Immediately after the dice are rolled, the sand timer is flipped, and players begin forming words from the letters.
-
Forming Words:
- Players try to form as many valid words as possible from the visible letters.
- Each word must be at least 3 letters long.
-
Words may not be used more than once (e.g., if "dog" is used, "dogs" cannot be used).
-
Scoring System:
- Each found word is written down.
- The scoring can vary, for example, longer words can score more points:
- 3 letters – 1 point
- 4 letters – 2 points
- 5 letters or more – 3 points
-
Additional rules may award extra points for rare letter combinations (e.g., "X", "Y", or "Z").
-
End of Round and Scoring:
- The round ends when the timer runs out.
- Each player presents their list of words, and the points are tallied.
-
The next round begins with a new roll.
-
Winning the Game:
- After a predetermined number of rounds or a set game time, the player with the highest score is declared the winner.
Strategic Tips
- Speed: In the game, it's important to think and write fast.
- Word Variety: Try to cover different word lengths to maximize points.
- Letter Patterns: Keep an eye out for specific letter patterns like "CH" or "CK" which are common in many words and can help form new ones.
