Objective of the Game
Kaleidos is a creative and fun party game where players compete to find as many words as possible that start with a specific letter depicted in richly detailed illustration boards. The aim is to score the most points by collecting correct and unique words each round.
Components
- 20 large, detailed illustration boards.
- 26 letter cards (one for each letter of the alphabet).
- Notepads for each player.
- Pencils or pens.
Setup
- Each player receives a notepad and a pen.
- Choose the same set of 10 images out of the 20 available. Each image will be used for one round.
- Shuffle the letter cards and place them face down.
Gameplay
- A letter card is drawn to determine the starting letter for the words.
- An illustration board is chosen for the round.
- Set a timer for a specified time, such as 90 seconds, at the beginning of each round.
- Players search the board and write down words starting with the designated letter within the allowed time.
- When time is up, pencils are put down.
- All players share their words by reading them aloud.
Scoring
- Each unique word (listed by only one player) is worth 3 points.
- Words that appear on multiple players' lists earn each player 1 point.
End of the Game and Winning
The game ends after 10 rounds. The player with the most points in total is the winner.
Strategic Tips
- Try not only to note obvious things but also to look for less visible details in the image.
- Vary your words: use nouns that specify certain objects.
- Knowing synonyms can be helpful or having access to more specific terms to find unique words.
Kaleidos encourages creativity and a keen eye for detail and is perfect for groups that enjoy laughter, thinking, and a bit of competition.
