Objective
What do you Meme? is a hilarious party game where the goal is to create the funniest meme by matching caption cards to the provided photo cards. Players strive to make players laugh and convince the judge that their meme creation is the best.
Players and Components
- Number of Players: 3 to 20 players
- Age Requirement: Recommended for 17 and older due to its humorous and often explicit content
- Components:
- 360 Caption Cards (text cards)
- 75 Photo Cards (popular internet memes)
- 1 Easel to display the photo card
Setting Up the Game
- Shuffle the Caption Cards and deal 7 cards to each player.
- Stack the Photo Cards face down in the center of the table.
- Choose an initial judge; this player takes on the role of the judge in the first round.
- Place the easel in the middle for the photos.
Game Play
- The Judge draws the top Photo Card, places it on the easel for all players to see.
- The remaining players choose one of their Caption Cards from their hand in secret, which they think best matches the Photo Card. They submit the card face down to the judge.
- The judge mixes the submitted Caption Cards and then reads them one by one aloud. Laughing is encouraged!
- The judge decides which combination of Photo Card and Caption Card is the funniest or most fitting. The player who submitted the caption wins the round and keeps the photo card as a point.
- Each player draws a new Caption Card, bringing their hand back to 7 cards.
- The next player clockwise becomes the judge, and a new round begins.
Ending the Game
The game ends when a previously agreed-upon score is reached (e.g., the first to 5 photo cards) or after a set amount of time, as agreed upon by the players.
Strategic Tips
- Understanding Humor: Try to read the judge's humor. Some prefer sarcasm; others may like simple or absurd humor.
- Card Saving: Hold onto particularly funny caption cards for rounds where the judge's humor aligns with your card.
This game doesn't require strategic planning but thrives on fun, creativity, and understanding the humor of your fellow players. What do you Meme? is perfect for social gatherings or parties where laughter and fun are the main goals.
