Rumms - Board Game

Strategy, Family Game, Abstract Game

group 2 - 4 Deutsch

Objective

The objective of Blokus 3D, also known as Rumms, is to place your stones so you have the most visible surfaces in the final structure. Players aim to position their stones to maximize their surface area visibility for scoring at the end.

Components

  • A 4x4 base which acts as the playing field.
  • Tetris-like shaped pieces (Polyominoes) in four colors/directions: Red, Blue, Yellow, and Green.

Setup

  1. Each player chooses a color.
  2. The board is set up and shapes are placed in the middle.
  3. A starting player is determined randomly or by another chosen method.

Gameplay

  • Players take turns placing one piece at a time onto the board.
  • The first piece of each player must touch one of the corners of the board.
  • Subsequent pieces must be placed adjacent to at least one of their own previously placed pieces. This means the pieces must connect at edges but can only be adjacent at the corners.

Placement Rules

  • A piece must fit completely on the playing field.
  • Overhanging or unsupported stones cannot be placed. All parts of a stone must be flush on the board or on top of other pieces.
  • If a player can no longer place their stone, they pass for the remainder of the game.

End of Game

The game ends when no player can place a stone.

Scoring

  • Each player counts the number of surfaces on the field covered by their pieces.
  • The winner is the player with the most visible surfaces.
  • In case of a tie, the winner is the player with the fewer remaining pieces.

Strategy Tips

  • Try to start in the central portions of the board to give yourself more options.
  • Block corners and edges early to minimize your opponent’s options.
  • Plan your moves ahead to save larger pieces for later placements.

Blokus 3D rewards strategic planning and foresight. Enjoy your building and blocking tactics!
