Objective of the Game

The objective of Sowing is to score more points than your opponents by strategically planting seeds on a board and growing them into plants.

Game Components

• A board with a square grid
• Seed tokens in various colors
• Markers for representing planted areas
• A score sheet

Setup

1. Place the board in the center of the table.
2. Each player chooses a color and takes the corresponding seed tokens and markers.
3. Decide who will start first.
4. Write down all players’ names on the score sheet.

Gameplay

The game consists of several rounds. In each round, every player takes one turn, which proceeds as follows: 1. Choosing a Field: The active player selects an empty square on the board. 2. Planting: The player places one of their seed tokens on the chosen square. 3. Growth: If the seed token is adjacent to other same-color seed tokens (horizontally or vertically), a planted area is formed. 4. Scoring: Once a planted area is formed, the player scores points based on its size.

Scoring

• Single Seed: 1 point
• Two connected seeds: 3 points
• Three or more connected seeds: 5 points plus 2 additional points for each extra seed connected

Special Rules

• Blocking: If a player places a seed token that prevents or limits the formation of an opponent’s connected area, no points can be scored for that area.
• Different Colors: Only identical colors must be connected to score points. Different colors block each other and do not earn points.

End of the Game

The game ends when no players have seed tokens left or no valid moves remain. The player with the highest score wins.

Strategic Tips

• Placement: Carefully consider where to plant your seed to maximize points.
• Effectively Block: Use your seeds to block the formation of your opponents’ areas and minimize their points.
• Build Chains: Try to form chains of three or more seeds of the same color to earn bonus points.
